South Dakota Bankruptcy Exemption Information
When a claimant files for bankruptcy, it is the task of the bankruptcy trustee to review all assets to determine if any can be liquidated under the law. Homestead
100 percent of homestead is exempt.
Wages
100 percent of 60 days earnings if needed to support family; otherwise,
80 percent or 40 times the federal minimum wage whichever is greater.
Automobiles
No specific automobile exemption.
Other Property
All family pictures; church pews and burial lots; $200 in all books; all
clothing; all food and fuel; $6,000 in personal property of any kind for
the debtor.
